The Audi quattro Bar is located directly next to the Corviglia mountain station in the St. Moritz ski area. It was created by Audi in 2013 for the FIS Alpine Women’s Ski World Cup and is open throughout both the winter and summer seasons.
The glass façade of the Audi quattro Bar offers a first glimpse of the extensive use of Vals Quartzite inside. The bar counter, the countertop and the feature wall behind it are all clad in Vals Quartzite. More about the project

The bar counter and the back wall are finished with split layered masonry, a classic style of layered masonry with a natural split face. The masonry has a wall thickness of 6 cm and features the three characteristic layer heights of 3.1 cm, 4.7 cm and 6.3 cm. The countertop made from Vals Quartzite has a fine ground finish.
Architectural features
The Audi quattro Bar was designed by Steiner Sarnen Schweiz AG, while the interior design was created by the Munich based design studio SCHMIDHUBER. The supporting structure is made entirely of timber. Together with the expansive glass façades, the inclined timber beams define the building’s distinctive appearance. The beams form the initials “WM”, a reference to the Alpine World Ski Championships in St. Moritz. The generous glazing offers visitors uninterrupted views of the impressive Engadin mountain landscape.
Inside, the timber continues throughout the space, creating a harmonious material composition together with Vals Quartzite.
Function & use
The Audi quattro Bar appeals to a broad yet design conscious audience, including skiers and snowboarders during the winter season, hikers and mountain bikers in summer, visitors from around the world and Audi customers in particular.
Characteristics & solutions
A three dimensional “quattro” lettering, approximately 10 metres long, is seamlessly integrated into the natural stone wall.
