Material & contribution by Truffer

For this private home overlooking Lake Lucerne, our stone was used in a variety of exterior applications. The terraces were paved with Vals Quartzite stone paving, a contemporary interpretation of traditional cobblestone paving. The elongated, narrow stones, laid in random lengths, create a distinctive pattern and lend the outdoor spaces a natural elegance.

The entire exterior façade was constructed using sawn layered masonry made from Vals Quartzite. Its horizontal layering and precise craftsmanship create a timeless architectural expression. The materiality is reminiscent of Peter Zumthor’s renowned Therme Vals. The solid block steps are also crafted from Vals Quartzite.

Architectural features

The architecture of the residence is characterised by its clean, cubic design, generous glazing and a façade defined by Vals Quartzite layered masonry.
