The exterior façade features layered stone masonry in Vals Quartzite. An assorted selection with a split face and the three classic course heights of 3.1, 4.7 and 6.3 cm was used. The masonry has a thickness of 6 cm. The natural split surface creates a lively and varied façade, highlighting the characteristic structure of Vals Quartzite.
Architectural features
In selected areas of the façade, the masonry stones were deliberately laid with open spaces between them. This makes parts of the masonry partially transparent, allowing light to filter through the stone structure. Depending on the time of day, changing patterns of light and shadow create a distinctive sense of depth and vitality across the façade.
